One of the best ways to get to know Ballarat and its surrounds is by bike. From a tour of the city centre, to designated bike paths, to longer rides further afield, you'll find a ride to suit your fitness level and interests. Here are ten suggested bike rides to help you on your way.
Recreational Rides
Ballarat Heritage Ride: a ride in central Ballarat taking you to some of the city's most important historical sites/landmarks.
Ballarat Parklands Ride: a ride through two of Ballarat's top recreational areas.
Yarrowee River Trail: an off-road ride along the Yarrowee River.
Ballarat to Buninyong Loop: a loop ride using off-road paths and scenic roads between Ballarat and the historic Buninyong township.
Ballarat to Creswick Loop: a longer road ride through rural and forested areas passing many points of interest around Ballarat.
Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail: a longer off-road ride following a disused railway line through the countryside south west of Ballarat.

If you want more of a challenge, we have four favourite sports rides around the Ballarat outskirts. Keen cycling enthusiasts will recognise the Napoleons-Buninyong ride as the Buninyong Road Race Circuit which is known as a world class road course.
