Blampied

The Swiss Mountain Hotel in the tiny hamlet of Blampied on the Ballarat-Daylesford Road is a goldfields icon, serving thirsty prospectors since it
opened in 1865. The walls of this atmospheric pub - said to be Victoria's oldest continually-licensed hotel - are adorned with old photos, one of which, taken around 1910, shows that the hotel has barely altered since horse and cart lumbered past on their way from Daylesford to Ballarat.

Did You Know?

The town Blampied was named after Louis Blampied who built a hotel here which is now called the Swiss Mountain Inn.
